* comics/manga are motivating: students want to read and use this material, meaning that they will apply themselves to study with more enthusiasm and are less likely to give up
* comics/manga are visual media: content is more easily processed and memorized when illustrated
* comics/manga are permanent: students control the pace of the learning process, which is not true when content is presented in lecture form or in film (another visualle attractive medium)
* comics/manga can be intermediaries towards more complicated content: in this case, manga can be used to facilitate the step from textbook Japanese to reading long Japanese texts, and to clarify difficult concepts from courses on other Japan-related subjects
* comics/manga are popular: the use of popular media can help familiarize and connect students with contemporary Japanese society on a level different from courses on the history or society of the country
+I think this is not appropriate here in the Philippines! They are inspiring. They pursue people in reading manga. For me, I Am not so much convinced in what are the advantages of it. I'm only reading manga for some relaxation (if ever) and because i whant to read like stories with pictures. hehe. that's what i want in manga (comics). +
